ONLINE ONLY - East meets West: A Virtual Exchange for cultural heritage between Poland and the Netherlands
This session can only be accessed online. As someone with an on-site ticket you can access this session using your own device and headset. Room A is available to use to join online sessions.
If you are a teacher or researcher in the Education sector, join East meets West, where you will find out about a virtual exchange methodology being implemented as part of a collaboration project between the University of Groningen and the University of Warsaw.
Learn about the two phases of this project. Phase one created highly interactive activities, involving interviews and treasure hunts, related to a diverse array of topics, including cultural heritage, anthropological theories of language and culture, and decolonising research. Participants delivered assignments in multiple modalities (text, voice, video), having the space, freedom and encouragement to be as creative as they wish.
Plans for phase two include augmenting the experience with virtual elements. In this talk, you will hear some of the learnings from the project.

About me
I was born and raised in the Netherlands. I studied Theology in Frankfurt and Information Science in Potsdam. My digital working life started in libraries as a database manager. In 2000, I joined the Dutch Patent Office; since then I have been working for several departments of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, acting at the intersection of users and IT specialists.
I’m retired now and an avid museum visitor, Europeana user and OpenGLAM advocate. My network consists of GLAM professionals, cultural workers and bloggers.
