The Europeana Communicators Community and the Climate Action Community present a joint session on "Communicating climate change through cultural heritage’’
Join and explore how cultural heritage institutions can use their collections and their position in the society to explore/highlight the climate emergency and create citizen engagement.
You’ll hear from three guest speakers:
- Elna Nord from Nordiska museet will introduce the approach taken with the 'Arctic - While the Ice is Melting' exhibition. You’ll hear what Nordiska aimed to communicate through the exhibition, learn some of the challenges of running an exhibition acknowledging the impacts of climate change, and get insights about the impact of the exhibition.
- Bridget McKenzie from Climate Museum UK CIC will introduce the Climate Museum UK and share their approach to communicating about climate.
- Elliot Alexander from Dundee Museum of Transport will spotlight the efforts of the UK museum sector to achieve net zero with case studies. You’ll learn how to stay ahead of the curve in the societal move towards net zero, exploit opportunities and existing resources, improve exhibitions, save money, and create more sustainable visitor attractions that work for everyone.
