NEO Collections: A participatory approach to re-thinking MK&G’s Collection Online
Join to hear how the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (MK&G), with project partners Übersee-Museum Bremen and Nationalmuseum Stockholm, found new ways of collaborative working in order to diversify perspectives on, and access to, the museum’s digital collections.
Find out about the approach taken and gain insights into the process of working with different communities, within interdisciplinary teams and across museums, and how to collaboratively turn problem statements into prototypes together.
Marleen Grasse coordinates the international NEO Collections project at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg. She graduated from the joint Master's program in Art and Design Studies at the Folkwang University of the Arts and the University of Duisburg-Essen, where she also worked as a research associate promoting open science and research data mangament. Before she completed a BA in Graphic Design and worked in branding as well.

My interest in history has been fueled since I got more in touch with heritage. Cultural institutions have a wealth of information stored in archives. Their valuable collections are patiently waiting to be viewed. I am thrilled to contribute to making this available to the world.
I am involved with digitization, collections management systems, crowdsourcing and making collections accessible to the (global) public. Personally I have interest in the latest developments in regards to collections management; specifically Linked (Open) Data, IIIF, SPARQL and new registration standards like Records In Context.
I'm attending Europeana 2022 to meet like-minded people who want to leverage the latest technologies in collections management. I'd be happy to share thoughts on developments in regards to linking collections, data and sources.

Emma Gabor is a Hungarian born Masters student in ‘Arts and Heritage: Policy, Education and Management’ at Maastricht University who grew up in Vienna, to then move to London and graduate from UCL with a Bachelors in Art History. She went on to found the Salon de la Sagesse in 2020, recently co-founding the Journal d’Ambroisie, and becoming lead coordinator of the ACMC (Arts and Cultural Management Conference). She is a passionate polyglot, an avid early modern historian, having completed courses at the CEU and the Warburg Institute, an art historian, and an aspiring cultural entrepreneur.
